NZ 2

La suite de nos aventures en Nouvelle-Zélande...
Episode 2 of our New Zealand adventures...

After the Banks Peninsula, we drove south to the Alps. Driving is usually long because distances are big in the south island, but when you have such amazing landsacapes, it doesn't really matter. Here are some landscapes we drove past :

With such a landscape New Zealand's milk has to be tasty !

We spent an afternoon in Lake Tekapo, a bright blue lake with a breathtaking color ! We had a small hike to the top of a small summit and enjoyed the view of the lake and the sunset over the mointains...

Coming back from this walk, we headed to the spa and hot pools of the city... A nice massage and a swim in 40°C water... We had to make those 4 days look like holidays !!

Sympatoche non ?
Fancy a dip in 40 °C pools ?

Our last day was spent around the city of Methven not very far from Christchurch. Since Russel, Steph's step-father, offered us to stay in a flat he owns there, we enjoyed it (thanks again Russel !!!) and before taking off, we drove around some more mountains and lakes. Those ones were the one used as "Stage" during the shooting of Lord of the Rings... Check it out :

Ca ne vous rappelle pas un film ?
Reminds you of a movie doesn't it ?

Here are some more photos of us because that's the reason why you visit this blog, isn't it ?

Kiwis also have a nice way of storing thing nicely in line... Look at these 2 nice examples :

That's the end of our photo-report about New-Zealand's south island. We hope you enjoyed and come with us next time ! We could go skiing there together !

Bises à tous et à bientôt !!!
Lots of kisses and see you soon !

News... Zealand

On aime !
It's been a while... We know, and that's why we are writing something today !
Since Mat came back from France (He was there again in April) about 1 month ago, things have been pretty much going the same as usual...
Steph got back to uni after some weeks off, she's painting, drawing, printing and enjoying !
Matt is still working from home with the joy of listenning to jackhammers and other noisy machines from the construction work in the building next door...

Something did enlight our days lately, we went to New-Zealand for 4 days about 2 weeks ago. Here's the first part of the story of Steph and Matt in KiwiLand. It was great, amazing, brilliant... We'll go back there !!!
Lots of photos for your eyes to enjoy !!

We Landed in Christchurch in the South island and we rented a car, went around the Banks Peninsula for 2 days and in the Alps for 2 more days. The south isand can be described as a bit empty with only 1 million inhabitants... So sometimes the roads are unsealed (but nothing new compared to Australia really...) and some rocks are seen on the road.

We had a small walk on a piece of land which was almost an Island in the middle of the bay. That was after removing rocks from the road, getting lost in the middle of nowhere and other funny stories. Here are some photos of the walk :

We also stopped in Akaroa, a charming little town with a taste of France. The only French settlement in NZ was there about 200 years ago and now you can find some streets with french names and french looking shops. We don't know if the french atmosphere has anything to do whit it but this town is also where we found the best restaurant. But the chef was kiwi...

Rue Jolie ou Beach Road ? Difficile de choisir !
Hard to chose between Rue Jolie or Beach Road...

The following day after a lovely night in a wonderful hostel, we had a nice hike (or tramp as kiwis say) through the volcanoe which formed the peninsula. It was breathtaking most of the time, and just amazing the rest of the time...
Steph est perdue...
"I'm lost!! I'm lost!!"
Have you ever seen the see so still with pink clouds reflecting in it ?

Bienvenue au pays du Seigneur des Anneaux...
Welcome to the land of Lord of the Rings...

This is the end of our first post about NZ. Tomorrow there will be another one about the Southern Alps (The ones from Kiwiland of course...). Beware, those mountains are throwing the steak as they say around here and there (in other words, it's The Shit !!)

Bises et à demain !
Kises and see you tomorrow!

Special Kacedédi

A Kacedédi is a word that doesn't really exist... Or maybe it does. It is a "Verlan" word, verlan being a slang used in France and it consists of saying the word backwards. Kacedédi can then be translated into "Dédicace" which means "Tribute".
So this small post is a tribute to rugby fans.
Why is that ?
Well because last friday we went with JB, Manu, Pauline and Pauline's parents to see the Waratahs play ! Waratahs is the NSW Rugby union (with 15 players) team and they were playing the Queensland Reds. They won and the game was quiet nice, not so different from a French game. Matt knows some of his friends from France will be quiet jealous about him seeing a Super 14 game so that's a Kacedédi for them !
(Wait a few seconds for the slideshow to load. If you can't see the photos fully then click on the slideshow and it'll direct you to the album on the picasa webpage).

Finnaly here is a video tribute to... Well we don't know exactly who is this video for but since the Gay&Lesbian Mardi Gras took place the saturday after the rugby game and we saw a bit of it, we wanted to share it with you. LifeSavers-Chippendales dancing on a Beach Boys music goes very well with big rugby players don't you think ?

Ahah!

Australian summer 09

Steph and I finnaly found some time together to seat down and write an article on this blog, as we promised last week... And there are loads of photos to show you so sit down and open your eyes.

This last month has been a nice summer in Sydney, and when you talk about summer in Sydney you mean beach! Lots of beachs. So there will be water, sun and a little bit of us for you to enjoy in this article.

So you can find your way through our photos we've included a map with some blue dots (do click on them!!!) showing you the places we wandered through.
If you click on the photos it'll direct you to our picasa web photo albums with even more for you to see...

Now let's travel around Sydney !!! First stop is Rushcutters Bay, the lovely bay next door from our house.

Then we have the lighthouse of South head, the headland of Sydney Harbour. A beautifull spot for painting and rock climbing too... We will go back there soon.

Travelling further south of Sydney Harbour, we also had a nice Sunday brunch at Bronte. Bronte's a lovely small beach. On the photos you can see the typical red and yellow flags where the lifesavers are making sure you won't drown or get eaten by a shark... Or maybe not.

We also spend a Saturday in the North of Sydney, in Palm Beach and Pittwater which is all the way north of Sydney. Amongst other things, we met some ducks and some crabs there.

We didn't only go to the beach we also had to eat occasionly. So here are some non-beach photos: A restaurant in Newtown with JB, Lee, cat, Andrew, Nicole & friends. Then we went to another restaurant near our house with JB and Audrey.

Finally we traveled south again last week-end to Maroubra where we had a BBQ with Manu and Pauline and there friends (mostly Frenchies... Rrrrrhhhhh). T'was another lovely night.

Voila, it's over for now. Next time (and it will be sooner this time) there will be less showing and more talking, we promise!!! See ya !
All right, c'est fini pour aujourd'hui. A bientôt!
