La suite de nos aventures en Nouvelle-Zélande...
Episode 2 of our New Zealand adventures...

Après la Péninsule Banks nous sommes avons passé pas mal de temps en voiture pour nous rendre dans les Alpes du sud, mais les paysages sont tellement époustouflant que même la voiture c'est sympa. Voici quelques paysage sur la route :
After the Banks Peninsula, we drove south to the Alps. Driving is usually long because distances are big in the south island, but when you have such amazing landsacapes, it doesn't really matter. Here are some landscapes we drove past :

Nous avons passé un après-midi passé à Lake Tekapo, un lac bleu turquoise assez hallucinant. Au programme, une petite ballade en haut d'un petit sommet d'où nous avons eu une vue exceptionnelle avec le couché de soleil sur l'ensemble des montagne et du lac...
We spent an afternoon in Lake Tekapo, a bright blue lake with a breathtaking color ! We had a small hike to the top of a small summit and enjoyed the view of the lake and the sunset over the mointains...

Puis après être redescendus au bord du lac nous sommes offert un petit massage et avons plongé dans des piscines chaudes au bord du lac... C'était vraiment les vacances ces 4 jours en NZ !!!
Coming back from this walk, we headed to the spa and hot pools of the city... A nice massage and a swim in 40°C water... We had to make those 4 days look like holidays !!

Le dernier jour, comme nous avions pu dormir dans l'appartement du beau père de Steph à Methven, nous sommes reté dans ce coin. Avant de prendre notre avion, nous avons fait un tour des vallées et lacs du coin. Un peu les mêmes que d'habitude nous direz vous ? Ouais mais la plupart des scènes du seigneur de anneaux ont été tournées là :
Our last day was spent around the city of Methven not very far from Christchurch. Since Russel, Steph's step-father, offered us to stay in a flat he owns there, we enjoyed it (thanks again Russel !!!) and before taking off, we drove around some more mountains and lakes. Those ones were the one used as "Stage" during the shooting of Lord of the Rings... Check it out :

Voila, fin de notre photo-reportage sur l'ile du sud de la Nouvelle Zélande, une ile qu'on a envie d'y revenir. Surement pour faire un peu de ski !!!

News... Zealand

Quelques petites nouvelles car quand même ça faisait longtemps !
Depuis le retour de Matt (oui il était encore en France au mois d'avril...) il y à environ 1 mois, les choses ont continuées à peu près comme elles marchaient avant...
Steph à eu des vacances, puis à reprit les cours depuis la semaine dernière, tout se passe bien, elle dessine et peint (jusqu'ici c'est normal).
Matt continue de bosser depuis son petit bureau à l'étage de chez nous... Et les travaux de l'immeuble à côté continuent, avec toujours dès 7h30 du matin, marteau piqueurs, pelleteuses et autres engins bruyants... On aime !
It's been a while... We know, and that's why we are writing something today !
Since Mat came back from France (He was there again in April) about 1 month ago, things have been pretty much going the same as usual...
Steph got back to uni after some weeks off, she's painting, drawing, printing and enjoying !
Matt is still working from home with the joy of listenning to jackhammers and other noisy machines from the construction work in the building next door...

Ah si, un truc à mit un peu plus d'étincelles que d'habitude dans nos yeux ! Il y à 15 jours nous sommes allés 4 jours en Nouvelle-Zélande. Un petit trip dans l'ile du sud, vraiment sympa. La seule chose à dire c'est qu'on y retournera, c'est certain !
Voici un petit récit du voyage et beaucoup de photos.

Something did enlight our days lately, we went to New-Zealand for 4 days about 2 weeks ago. Here's the first part of the story of Steph and Matt in KiwiLand. It was great, amazing, brilliant... We'll go back there !!!

Nous sommes arrivé à Christchurch dans le centre de l'ile du sud, avons loué une voiture et avons passé environ deux jours dans la Péninsule Banks au sud de Christchurch puis environ deux jours dans les Alpes Néo-zélandaises... L'ile du sud peut être décrite comme... vide ! En effet "seulement" 1 million d'habitants y vivent donc parfois les routes sont pas trop goudronnées et il faut enlever y les cailloux qui trainent... (Bon en plus nous ne sommes pas aller dans les coins les plus peuplés)
We Landed in Christchurch in the South island and we rented a car, went around the Banks Peninsula for 2 days and in the Alps for 2 more days. The south isand can be described as a bit empty with only 1 million inhabitants... So sometimes the roads are unsealed (but nothing new compared to Australia really...) and some rocks are seen on the road.

Après avoir enlevé des cailloux sur la route et être arrivé dans le centre de la péninsule nous avons fait une petite ballade sur une ile dans la baie de la péninsule.
We had a small walk on a piece of land which was almost an Island in the middle of the bay. That was after removing rocks from the road, getting lost in the middle of nowhere and other funny stories. Here are some photos of the walk :


Nous sommes également passés à Akaroa, petit village aux accents français avec des rues appelées "Jolie", "Renard" ou "Cachalot" et une "Boucherie du village". En fait c'est là-bas que la seule colonie française en NZ s'est installée il y à environ 200 ans... Et croyez le ou non, c'est là-bas que nous avons eu le meilleur diner depuis longtemps dans un restaurant tenu par un kiwi !! (Non ce n'était pas un kiwi, l'animal, mais kiwi est le petit surnom des néo-zélandais...)
We also stopped in Akaroa, a charming little town with a taste of France. The only French settlement in NZ was there about 200 years ago and now you can find some streets with french names and french looking shops. We don't know if the french atmosphere has anything to do whit it but this town is also where we found the best restaurant. But the chef was kiwi...

Le lendemain, après une nuit dans une magnifique auberge chez l'habitant, nous avons une belle ballade sur les hauteurs des volcans qui ont formé la péninsule... A couper le souffle parfois !!!
The following day after a lovely night in a wonderful hostel, we had a nice hike (or tramp as kiwis say) through the volcanoe which formed the peninsula. It was breathtaking most of the time, and just amazing the rest of the time...

Voila qui clôt ce premier post sur notre petit séjour en Nouvelle-Zélande. Demain, nous postons un deuxième sur les Alpes du Sud (de Nouvelle-Zélande...). Et attention ça envoie du steak comme y disent chez nous...
This is the end of our first post about NZ. Tomorrow there will be another one about the Southern Alps (The ones from Kiwiland of course...). Beware, those mountains are throwing the steak as they say around here and there (in other words, it's The Shit !!)
